@Robert Yoho - I'm amazed that potassium wasn't mentioned. Several people I know, including close family members and myself have all found that simply supplementing with extra potassium really helps. Here's something mentioning it.
What a great multidimensional program that shows practical applications of different supplements and how to use them for different problems in sleep as well as different medical histories that they may help with.
Dr. T absolutely walks or talk but we have to remember she's only one person and I do believe she's willing to talk to anyone To get you started and start a problem solving for better health.
Thank you Dr. Yoho for all that you do and share to help people. I so appreciate all your research and the ability to be able to go through your archives❤️ I hope someday when it's right for you you can find experts that can help people transition off cortical steroids and amphetamines.
It is so sad the crisis that is happening in that area and I remember listening to Dr. Flavio C Of Brazil sharing that one of his parents said they can't live their life without a certain street drug, that I guess is a little more legal in Brazil and they are a very high corporate person I believe.
I wanted to chime in some brands you can get herbs from my experience of 30 plus years as some of the brands listed are on my personal low quality list...
Mediherb
Gaia
Herb Pharm
Mountain Rose Herbs
Star West Botanicals
Organic India
You mentioned Traditional Medicinals
Banyan
These are vetted and proven high quality.
Prepared Rehmannia works well with Ashwaganda
Some may need B-vitamins for sleep - esp if trouble falling asleep
Standard Process Cataplex B2 6-12 per day and Orchex 1-6 per day also shown to help sleep
The fighting over prescription drugs as a step towards better health in the US is bewildering, as it leaves the question of why there are so many taking prescription drugs. My kid has taken more prescription drugs in his short life than I have in my long life. A friend's daughter sees a cardiologist. Her college T.A. gave her a referral to her doc. It is as if everyone is squabbling about the hole at the bottom of the ship while the whole ship is burning. To stop the fire, kids should learn about natural remedies as if it were 1890 in a rural area.
Excellent point! Reducing temperature in your sleep space makes a dramatic improvement in sleep quality and it's one of the most overlooked things. Same with avoiding electronics/ blue light 2 hours before bedtime!
Thank you!! This is most valuable. I’m working on my thyroid and using chlorine dioxide. I do use L-theanine periodically and that phosphy— thing. My sleep is better. I slept all night just getting up 1 to pee last night. I do that even if it’s not urgent because I seem to go back to sleep better after that. I have racing mind mostly. Anything stressful going on will cause that. I’m all in for chlorine dioxide now.
Thank you for this wonderful article, I'm looking forward to trying out the combinations.
During chemo, I was hardly sleeping at all and the doctors tried everything, but nothing worked.
Then my GP prescribed amytriptelene (a psych drug), saying that they knew it worked but they didnt know how it worked. Well, it worked for me and even when I awoke I would take another pill and go back to sleep. Then I came across an article in BMJ saying it has an extremely high risk of dementia ( they use the generic name, I guess so that average Joes like me dont put 2 and 2 together and stop taking it), even after only a small dose. When I said it to my GP she adamantly rejected what I was saying so I offered to send her the articles - she refused! No doubt there are many people suffering today from dementia due to this unacceptable reckless regard for patients, who trust their doctors to have adequate knowledge of what they're prescribing.
I went to bed at 10pm last Friday bight and was still wide awake at 6am. So being desperate, I opened a capsule of valerian into a glass of water and added 2ml of DMSO - I slept really well. Possibly I was so exhausted that I would have slept well anyway, but maybe DMSO can enhance any of the therapies. Your readers can try this and hopefully let us know what works. I'm going to read everyone's comments here also, people who read blogs such as yours are usually very well informed.
Just a note, for cancer patients, they should always research the effect of what they ingest on their particular cancer, including natural remedies.
Also, people take melatonin for various issues, forgetting its a sleep aid. My friend was taking high dose melatonin and fell asleep while driving. He was OK, ruined the car and no one else was hurt, but could have been a catasprophe.
Amitriptyline Side Effects: Common, Severe, Long Term
Amitriptyline (a tricyclic antidepressant) can rarely cause or worsen tardive dyskinesia (TD), a serious movement disorder characterized by uncontrollable muscle movements in the face, tongue, jaw, or limbs. Due to high anticholinergic activity, it may worsen existing symptoms in elderly patients. While often reversing upon discontinuation, TD can sometimes persist.
For a few months many years ago I started getting a bad case of hives all over my body and it seemed to be after I ate a meal. I could not figure out what I was "allergic to" because nothing had changed in my diet and I was on no medications except for eye drops. I tried bland diet and that did not work. It was very disrupting to my life and schedule.
Finally found out I had "leaky gut", probably because I was eating poorly, canned food and Kraft mac and cheese. I cleaned up my diet with good veggies and meat.
When I would break out with the hives and itching all over for several hours, I started taking Benadryl pills (diphenhydramine) and it did stop the itching and it made me very sleepy.
I took two or three 25 mg pills , take a three or four hour nap and was fine when I woke up but that used up my day.
It seems like an OTC cheap simple pill with few side effects. I would think that it might be good to have those on hand if you need to get to sleep so you will function well the next day in some special situations. It does work pronto and no side effects for me.
I have never taken it simply for insomnia But for bad hives, drowsiness is a great side effect.
I have gotten hives several times in my life even from childhood, but usually for allergies.
I guess I was trying to say that some of these natural remedies in their crude form [mother tinctures] should be one-off's and not used too frequently.
Example: friend of mine works as manager in a huge garden centre which is like a constant steam bath.
She hydrated by drinking quarts of water into which she put fresh organic mint leaves out of her garden [summertime]. This went on for weeks.
Well she had extreme esophageal burning and was told by the specialist that if it progressed, it could move into early stages of esophageal cancer and they wanted her to start on some light meds.
I asked her where could this possibly have started and on the chance it was the mint, I did a bit of research and found that mint on a daily basis can cause severe irritation to the lining of the oesaphagus.
Sure enough when she stopped, a month later she was well again.
Hives is often an extreme allergic reaction and often considered to be in the Anaphylaxis category.
I had daily hives starting out of the blue at age 52. That was a decade ago. I found out I was severely gluten intolerant after eliminating several foods.
Yes gluten exposure over years develops into leaky gut and takes a full 8 months to heal once you are gluten free.
Apparently something like 85% of the population is gluten intolerant to some degree - and they don't even know it.
Anyhow I've been completely gluten free for a very long time and the way I know I still have it is when I accidentally eat anything with gluten. [Two weeks ago I had an attack over coated french fries]. My intestines were on fire and stabbing pains ensued for hours.
Try eliminating all gluten [not that hard these days with all the good substitutes] and you won't need the Benadryl or any other supplements, natural or otherwise.
Those supplements, while "natural" in this article have their own serious downsides with prolonged use.
"Excessive serine metabolism promotes abnormal macromolecule biosynthesis, mitochondrial dysfunction, and epigenetic modifications, driving malignant transformation, proliferation, metastasis, immune suppression, and drug resistance in tumor cells...Studies have shown that both endogenous serine produced from glucose and functionally acquired exogenous serine are associated with the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo and functionally promote cancer progression "
Don’t believe anything from Google. They are aligned with Big pHARMA. I use Startpage search engine at the moment. (They have apps in app stores) You don’t end up with tabs all over the place unless you want them. There are others less compromised than Google. Sometimes Yandex. Brave. I’m using chlorine dioxide now and Google gives the usual garbage about it. I realize the word Google is almost a verb for web searches so maybe you are doing other ones anyway. Cheers.
It does help pain that I am experiencing as a result of the patella tendon in my right knee being ruptured. The surgery to replace it is quite complicated, and the recovery even more so. I have had a left foot gas pedal installed in my vehicle, since I can’t straighten my right leg because of the ruptured tendon.

Seriously? I’m sorry but that is sick and demented. No tricks, only truth and health. Except for emergency care the MIC and PIC can go rot in hell for all the harms they’ve done to people. Omg. This is so upsetting, this “trick.” Protocol.
Scott Schroeder told me the same thing. I got in my Edge this morning, with the left foot gas pedal, and got my hair cut and went to the chiropractor, and I didn’t kill anyone. Robert, I appreciate all your advice and support.
A comprehensive review. When cannabinoids are employed for as sleep facilitators it is important to choose wisely. Sativa strains or hybrids are the wrong choice as they have a stimulant effect. Indicus varieties (couch lock) strains are the right types.
Have been interested in the sleepless for decades. The cause is unresolved conflicts.
Work on them while employing the gentlest of therapeutics.
Love Dr Tamara!! She has helped me too!
On a separate note does anyone have a reputable pharmacy outside US where I can get topical rapomyacin? I need it for an ungual fibroma. TIA. ❤️❤️

I have Hashimoto's. I read that Ashwagandha can aggravate this thyroid issue. Is that correct?
Yes

Love your posts. Just curious why you stopped the high dose melatonin? I am still taking it for the long term benefits.
Thank you Dr Yoho. I just wanted to make sure you did not find any information that led you to decide it could hurt us.
All reactions are individual, and I finally decided it messed up my sleep. Melatonin researchers sometimes take grams of it a day.
Great Share!

AND taking isolated amino acids - think L in "L" Tryptophan made in a lab always generates the D -isomer - long term users in my practice show elevated WBC and Lymphocytes on the Differential. My paper on D-isomers is here - https://open.substack.com/pub/craiglane/p/exploring-chemistry-as-living-processes?r=1smgy1&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

I’m appreciating you more every time you post :) We can all make health care - part of care again.

I appreciate this post. I have been experimenting with sleep dietary aids for years. I use many of the items you list.
I am getting generally 7.5 to 9 hours a night. One thing that disrupts my sleep most is temperature. I need it very chilly.
Excellent point! Reducing temperature in your sleep space makes a dramatic improvement in sleep quality and it's one of the most overlooked things. Same with avoiding electronics/ blue light 2 hours before bedtime!
I have to quit late night YouTube from 9 PM on.

Robert, is L-serine supplement really carcinogenic? (Google says yes, potentially, and says the same for L-glycine.)
L-serine helped me relax, but I stopped using it out of fear.

You can purchase full spectrum CBD gummies online from Cornbread Hemp. Full spectrum means there is THC in the gummies.
nice! If you try other things on this list, you may not need THC
I stopped THC about six weeks ago
